Nov. 3rd, 2007 09:51 pmNew S4 pics... with Martha bonus! YAYZ!
She's got a ring on her finger which, understandably, folks are wondering if it means she's engaged/married. Possibly. As a woman could only ever get over someone by being suddenly married off. *insert massive eyeroll here*
Although - as my brain is full of crackspec as anyone who reads my Who posts probably knows at this point - I'm wondering if it might be a modified version of this ring....

I'm thinking a Master possession in S4 is all but an inevitability. It's not only an old skool thing he does, but he totally has no body now (as Jedi!Doctor burninated it).
I do have to admit, as long as she doesn't end up Truly Dead by the end of it, I think the idea of Master!Martha is kind of hot. However, that could just be me desirous to see (Not)Martha kick the Doctor's scrawny ass ("Second best", I'll show him "second best"), so I could be a little biased.

Date: 2007-11-04 05:25 am (UTC)I was hoping for somebody from UNIT (as a way to finally bring them full-fledged back into the plot somehow)... or just have SOME kind of story (either good or evil). Although either he has some story or he's Mr. Peel and we never see him. I don't think I want another Gwen/Rhys subplot.
whom we haven't met yet but will in fact make the Doctor twitchy with jealousy.
Heh. Yeah. He'll probably be all happy and congratulatory. Even though for all intents and purposes (considering what an arrogant prick he is), he should be jealous, if not finally realizing what he lost, but even without that interest since everything has to be about him. His companion who he treated like shit for a series dare love someone else more? Curse her!!
Hey, I can dream. And stop giving me gorgeous plot bunnies for which I en't got the time to write them.
*is very eager for some Vali updates at Teaspoon*

Date: 2007-11-04 10:34 pm (UTC)Someday I will be through writing this blasted Ten/Martha novel and there will be! (Not that I'm complaining, Martha, you're lovely. Oh, and Ten, I can occasionally tolerate you too.)

Date: 2007-11-05 12:14 am (UTC)O YES. Also Baker, C. Though that may be just me. I'm, er, a bit of a sucker for a Doctor with an outsized ego. And Hartnell, W, of course! Who is this Bill Nighy of whom you speak? *wikis*
(And I am dying to write some Two/Martha, though it'll have to wait until the other stories are wrapped.)
You and me both, my friend. I'll be looking forward to yours. Write faster!

Can you imagine "Smith and Jones" if it were Two in the hospital and not Ten? For one thing, he'd have been very kind to that other doctor (Julia?) who was panicked about losing air if they opened the doors.

Date: 2007-11-05 07:41 pm (UTC)Much as I adore Four, I have to admit that he would've tossed her aside too, or at least got very snappish. Three would've just rolled his eyes and kept on walking.
"Two was unusually thoughtful of people around him--have we seen any other Docs so careful to clue other people in?"
Maybe Eight would be as well? As far as the onscreen Doctors, Two definitely comes off (to me) as the most thoughtful and generous.

Date: 2007-11-05 06:36 pm (UTC)Probably about the same time that "plot," "continuity" and "traveling to other planets and galaxies" became silly little fripperies to be disregarded at will. :-p I'm not even forty yet and I'm already so damned sick of how modern television all has to be about Pretty Young People doing Pretty Young Things--it's so boring.
"...Although if they wanted to give Eleven to Hugo Weaving, I would not say no."
Hot damn, neither would I. But alas, they've said flat out they're not looking at actors over forty, and creaky aging Hugo is seven years past the sell-by date.

Date: 2007-11-05 05:00 pm (UTC)Oh my god, the acting. Every time anyone brings up Two, I feel like I have to post this clip from "Evil of the Daleks" (http://youtube.com/watch?v=K4w9OR_stic). It's not only a brilliant display of acting, but the man - with the strength of that performance by itself - makes the Daleks scary and threatening (and one of the few times I've ever found them scary)... and that's early era Who when the villains were made of tin foil. Also, ironically, one of the Doctors closest to Gallifrey (being only the second incarnation) and yet he's a greater humanitarian than I think... just about all of them (most especially Ten).

You know, even before factoring in performances, I think I find tinfoil villains more convincing than CGI villains, even when the CGI is good. It's just always going to be subtly different when the actors have something real, present, and material to interact with. Case in point: Virtually anything would have been better than Gollum!Ten: an indistinct shape in a wad of clothing, and muffled voice issuing from a bag, anything. /random

Date: 2007-11-05 07:53 pm (UTC)And now I'm veering off on an LOTTL rant, but I also don't get - since Rusty was going to use the reset anyway - why the Master's missing year couldn't have all been some gigantic global hallucination induced by the Master powered-up by the Archangel Network and the TARDIS?? So instead of a Paradox Machine (which it's disguised as), we'd have gotten a Nightmare Machine. They could have still kept the Master as ludicrously panto as they wanted, but also have gone to "The Mind Robber" or "Celestial Toymaker" levels of headtrip/torture. The Master trapping Ten, Martha, Jack and the Joneses in terrible illusions they'd have little to fight apart from sheer force of will. BUT OH NO!! Fucking GollumBlueFloatingJesus!Doctor, Disco!Master, Jack doing little but be dirty and repeatedly dead, Evil Pokemans straight out of "Phantasm" and Apostle!Martha (one of the few redeeming qualities of that ep, sadly enough) is what we got. Along with ugly racial subtexts and Martha leaving still with no decent acknowledgment from asshole!Doctor!! And I'm stopping the finale rant right now or I never will.
