SPN - 502 - Good God, Y'All
Sep. 17th, 2009 10:48 pm- Title has to do with both Castiel's divine mission AND Titus Welliver's character. Nice. :)
- So is this tradition now that Cas leans in threateningly into Dean's personal space in the 2nd eps of seasons
and has MAD UST with him? I'm a-ok with this tradition. XD - And although it's probably sacrilegious to suggest, I'm guessing Cas is going to end up keeping that pendant because Dean gives it to him in some manly display of incipient brolove
MASSIVE SLASHINESS. I readily admit I momentarily lost capacity for coherent thought after "I did it all for you!" and "Give it to me, Dean". Seriously, Kripke, seriously?? And you're NEVER going to have them make-out? Damn. You. - However, Castiel seems not so forthcoming about the fact HE let Sam out of the panic room (and he hosed Anna). I doubt the writers have forgotten it. My guess is they're waiting for the time it would be the absolute most painful time for Dean to hear his shiny new BFF did some shitty stuff last season too. So pretty much everyone is in the Screw Over Dean Club and he runs off stricken and alone at some point (and vulnerable to persuasion).
- I also still don't think God resurrected Castiel. Of which I've discussed at length in various places, but suffice to say Cas is likely going to get inducted into the Winchester Angst & Misery. Not being resurrected by God could be a way to go about it. They're making a big show of this Quest For God mission (in the second ep of the season?), it just makes me think it's set-up for failure. I also still guess it was Lucifer who saved him, because that would be the most torturous option. Cas is also riding the high horse right now (not unlike Dean in the first half of S4), conveniently forgetting his role in starting Armageddon last season, so I suspect he's going to get taken down a peg. Maybe several pegs. Possibly involving shock, horror and/or tears, in true Winchester fashion. Welcome to the show, Cas!
- Although Dean lost his amulet and he offered Sam the Impala. It's like he's shedding his most beloved material possessions. Don't know what to think of that, but I probably wouldn't be surprised it could be foreshadowing. I kept thinking Dylan in an abysmally depressing fashion, Mama, take this badge off of me, I can't use it anymore.
- Titus Welliver was pretty awesome as War. Very Trickster-like.
- Although I suspected they were going down that Sam really lusts for power, deep down road, still sad we got the confirmation of it. I hope he can get that inner megalomania in check.
- Hey Ellen, still the HBIC? Yes? Ok, that's settled then!! I really hope she stays around for more than one ep, I've missed Ellen and her fierce ways. This ep only reminded me why.
- Rufus also very awesome. I'm almost wondering if he might take a little bit of the Bobby action with Bobby sadly out of commition for running, jumping, climbing trees parts. Definitely would like to see more Rufus.
A black man recurring character that doesn't inevitably die in this show. - I'm sorry to say though, I still don't care about Jo at all. I'm also very much hoping they don't try to revisit the Dean/Jo debacle because.... no, just no. Doesn't help her mom still has more chemistry with Dean than she does. Seriously, that scene they're grinning at each other across the table? I was feeling it.
- Next week: I love how Sam gets an anima (again) and Dean apparently gets an animus (again, the same one from last season, in fact). Still absolutely sure you're not leaning towards some Dean/Cas make-out time, Krip? XD
- Batshit crackspec of the moment: God came down to Earth to live as a human... as Mary Winchester. It can't be anyone Dean met after he got the amulet as I'd think Dean would have noticed the thing burning a hole in his chest. However, that would explain why Dean and Sam are such special snowflakes. Their mommy was literally Cas' Daddy. XD It would also explain why all of Mary's family was killed. However, as God created Lucifer and through him Hell (Sam), he also created his counter, Michael (Dean). Brothers and nemeses. Dean vs. Sam and Michael vs. Lucifer. In the words of BSG, This has all happened before.

He said the nun violence and baby eating was the show's final frontier, but I disagree!

It would also explain why Dean has UST with Cas . . . Okay that was low.
Seriously, this Sam vs. Dean Lucifer vs Michael is the way it's going, isn't it? It hurts me because I love Sam so. At the same time, it's like a better version of Clex.

Date: 2009-09-19 12:55 am (UTC)Heh. I don't know how it could have been lost to anyone. Seriously, only taken slightly out of context and that entire D/C sequence is slashgirl den of iniquities. Considering Misha's naughtiness? Suffice to say, I can't wait for the S5 gag reel.

Dean has no room to argue. He was checking out his own damn mother.

Though they're never crossing that line, at least they acknowledge there's a line there. I'm still undecided on if it will actually get as far as Sam!Lucifer and Dean!Michael, but it wouldn't surprise me at all that's what happens. Poor Cas, if he's alive by that point, trapped in the middle.... Dirty.

If they don't go that route, we already have Sam associated with Demons and Deans associated with Angels so it' looks like it'll get to Sam vs. Dean in the end somehow. And yeah I do wonder where Cas fits in. Oh god, that was dirty too. hah!

I seem to remember a lot of invading of Dean's personal space when Azazel possessed grandpa Campbell too.

He's Dean's Ruby which my batshit is more than willing to take as suprsekrit code for the hero's boyfriend. ;)
Speaking of dirty, have you seen the new preview clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga8zwNi9xCY) for next week's eppy? XD

Date: 2009-09-19 10:47 pm (UTC)I hadn't seen it! But now I have! At first I thought Cas had brought some super-special lube hah but he's never been with a *woman*. He didn't say anything about a man, Dean ;)
I think Dean/Cas has left the sub in subtext behind a long a time ago. *rubs hands gleefully*

Date: 2009-09-19 11:34 pm (UTC)The impression I got is Cas is the big *V*, but apparently it didn't even dawn on Dean to wonder if he plays for the home team or not... or it did and he's trying to be cool about it
then make his move.I think Dean/Cas has left the sub in subtext behind a long a time ago. *rubs hands gleefully*
Or Kripke has just lost all means of subtlety, because really, it's just not subtle or sneaky anymore to me. I don't even think I'm digging for it either. It's just ridiculous the past two eps and Cas has barely been there!
