Wow. They really should have quit while they were ahead with "Eternal". What a big joke that was.

I don't have much to say after having endured that, but I am amazed how the ep could start off well enough, but then turn into about one of the most thorough ass rapes of pretty much all that came before it. I've seen some awful finales in my time, but few of them have grounded out at third so spectacularly as that did. I can't be too surprised since I left this show five seasons ago for a reason and wasn't really expecting certain stories to end well, but, seriously, wow. They even exceeded my expectations of repugnance. However, I am grateful for, if "Doomsday" is setting up the remainder of the series, PS3 warning us in advance! With that, I say goodnight SV! I knew I should have went with the roommates and rewatched "Star Trek". If not for SPN and the exceedingly false hope Chloe's arc this season would have some sort of decent pay-off, I would have.

I am glad of the new people on my flist I met as a result of this season of SV, see you on the other side people!

*******************************

Now to the show with the writers that know how to write a finale that doesn't suck out loud...

  • Carry On, Wayward Son!! Already, this is a brilliant start.

  • Azazel!Priest murders a bunch of nuns in an astoundingly bloody fashion and sprawls one right over the damn church altar. 5 mins in and the gore quota has already been met in spades!

  • I know this show is all about family, Dean was losing faith there and pilfered one of John's quotes last episode, but I didn't totally buy Bobby's rant at Dean especially considering what Sam's been like to deal with most of this season and Bobby hasn't really been there for all that much of it. Dean and Sam's relationship has gotten rather disturbingly co-dependent this year and I'm actually rather ready for them to take a break from each other for awhile. Obviously to get back together again eventually, but I don't like the idea of quick fixes in this show and if I didn't like anything about the finale it did seem to be heavily implying all will be kosher come S5. Eh. Bobby essentially demanding Dean to keep himself bound to that? Doesn't really blow my skirt up much, but I'm willing to hang in there.

  • I love how it went from Bobby's shack in South Dakota to... Surprise Bellagio? Damn, angels have tacky taste in decor.

  • I think we know where the real Superman is hiding and it ain't in Kansas, he's really possessing Jimmy Novak's meatsuit. The steel smacking sound when Dean punched Castiel? L.O.L.

  • That damn well better be Castiel too, not something bogus like Anna wearing Jimmy. I suppose it wouldn't matter too greatly as long as Misha Collins is still playing whoever, but....dammit, Cas and Dean have the established relationship and forbidden fruit rapport, not Dean and Anna. I think "The Rapture" established Cas and Jimmy are pretty much bound together but I'm going to be paranoid about that until September comes.

  • However, did Cas suddenly pull in some favors? He's going to hold off the squadron of fraking archangels? Oh honey, did you forget you had your ass handed to you by Uriel and he was definitely no archangel? I hope Daddy bails him out there.

  • Cas warding off that dick Zachariah though? Oh, that was glorious. That and forcefully throwing Dean against the wall, putting his hand over his mouth? That is going to be keeping the fanvids and fanfic flowing for months to come.

  • St. Mary's Convent? Lucifer released in a place with the same name as Dean's and Sammy's mommy? That's not too unsettling or anything.

  • CHUCK!! There wasn't enough of you but glad of what we did get! Much lols after writing Lucifer Rising then planning to binge on hookers until the inevitable fire and brimstone rains from the sky. heee

  • Also mass lols with Chuck putting his hand on Cas' shoulder and Cas giving him the stink eye. This ep was surprisingly full of the funny for how grim most of the events in it were.

  • Heh. I was spoiled for Lilith being the final seal, but wasn't sure they were going to have the salt for Sam (and I was fairly convinced it would be him if it happened) to actually kill her.

  • You see writers, how much BETTER Ruby worked as a heinously evil, two-faced bitch? Now only if they did that sooner I might have tolerated her more!

  • As I thought, Ruby ended up just like witchy slut from 4.07 and right after proclaiming her undying loyalty for her utterly evil main squeeze, but then gets killed for her efforts.

  • I take it it was Ruby altering Dean's message to Sam with her evil smirk, but considering Castiel said he didn't have "coverage" (heh!) in Bellagio Heaven, then that was either the pro-Apocalypse angels manipulating what Dean said in the message or it was Ruby.

  • Poor poor disillusioned Sammy. I would have more sympathy if you weren't such a blind, arrogant dbag to your brother who went to Hell for you too many times this season while running off with that demon skank. Which just made you look like a total idiot. I wouldn't blame Dean for any "I told you so"s when they're not busy pissing themselves watching Lucifer bust out of the pokey.

  • Dean, Sam and Castiel as Heaven's most wanted next season? Is it September yet??

Yes to everything SV.
That was the most disgusting rape of a storyline ever (the second half especially). Just. sick. ick. gross.

I am so glad fandom is in my head.. It's going to make me rewrite it into something I can follow. Still love the pairing and think canon is crap, so, hey. I have a lot of work to do.

Even if I ignored certain parts of SV of which we have common interest, there was nothing else in the ep offering up anything what a finale should be.

Clark justifiably pissed at Oliver, then he just isn't. Oliver not only doing nothing to make amends for the dick he's been most of this season, but he's actually vindicated for it! I'm not going to deny Jimmy having some nasty things happen to him this season, but he was also acting like a heinous jerk ("Marrying you was the worst mistake of my life", the ranty, shitty e-mails he sent her when he was supposedly so worried about her well-being. Yeah, wtf happened to that?? o hai continuity swept into SV's swelling plot blackhole) The little brother that was all of a sudden (that apparently wasn't invited to the wedding as Chloe never met him before) is the real Jimmy Olsen. Oliver's lone mantear at Jimmy's funeral. Then of course that laughably pathetic showdown with Doomsday that was about 2 mins long. I know they've got a budget to consider, but even if I hadn't read the epic, iconic comic book story (which I have btw, more pity me!!), that's paltry even on an SV scale. The fight with Bizarro was more epic than that. The fight with Zod!Lex was more epic, etc etc. AND THIS WAS DOOMSDAY!!! That was a sorry excuse for an ep all around. En par to the Lana eps this season and I thought those were the creme of the crop bottom of the barrel.

^ you got the discontinuities down so much better than I ever did.
YES!

The Jimmy thing literally made me sick. What did they do to Chloe. I loved Chloe. She was my sole foothold in SV and now, after this?!?
Also, for me, it even sinks lower than the Lana crapfest. because it messed with Chloe/Davis, maybe, but worst, it pretty much character assassinated them both.
that=not my canon.

I was LMFAO how hard they stuck to their Chimmy guns in the very end and pretty much totally and utterly out of no where. Despite how nobody liked the story and they had to know it. Chlavis may have been dark and complicated, but it was so obvious it was so vastly more interesting and layered than Chimmy (and the chem, my god the chem). It's as simple as them killing the storyline, the one that fans most responded to and a big contributor to this season being watchable, in favor of stubbornly and stupidly stroking their own egos. Chimmy really was Lana all over again. Another story that should have been over ages ago because it ceased having a purpose on any levels but because they have their own personal hard-on for it, even if it was damaging all involved and not so good for the overall plot, they stuck to it anyway. Just another Wesley and like Lana did for most of the latter seasons, Chimmy - even if it wasn't the only thing - helped tank the finale. Well done writers. Your talentlessness and arrogance wins out again!

This is making me laugh, because I once had a guinea pig named Chimmy. :D Chimney Soot Face, nickname Chimmy, because she had a black face and white body. I think she was far more likeable than the Chimmy in the SV season finale.

I don't doubt it. Guinea pigs are little puffballs of cute, certainly not repugnant black holes of suck.

lol!

What the heck was that at the end, in Lex's house? I'm not that familiar with the Superman villains.

Nekkid, reborn Zod (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Zod), most likely. That was his symbol emblazoned on the lawn. He was also yelling "Zod!!!" in a faux-creepy, spectacularly corny fashion.
