So the specs over on OG about Scary Voldemort-type hooded nemesis? There's a thread spec'ing if he's the Black Guardian.
Which is a character I don't know a lot about (only eps I've seen him in are "Enlightenment" and the Key to Time arc) and so I've got an excuse to start watching old skool eppies. YAY!
And here I am watching "Mawdryn Undead"...
Black Guardian: "Waking or sleeping, I shall be with you, until our business in concluded."
Well hell, that's pretty much what Voldie-type says to Andrea in WHtSJ and pretty much under the same circumstance he said it to Turlough. Both in near-death experiences and saved via an agreement, but only when the agreement is made. The bargain with Andrea and then promising he'll always be with her. Then gives her a black box straight outta "Hellraiser", while Turlough got a white crystal thing.
Voldie-type also mentioned "ephemerals", which pinged my radar as it's what the Eternals called everyone not them in "Enlightenment"... which is another ep that features the Black & White Guardians. Voldie also kept going on and on about "chaos" and "consuming chaos" (chaos vs. order, Black Guardian vs White Guardian).
You know, I'm thinking those OG fanboys are onto something. The Black Guardian back in SJA/Whoniverse?? Voldie-type also threatened the bloody Doctor. Oh baby. This could get interesting. And how's it come to the point SJA has gotten better villain anticipation - more intriguing especially if this is the Black Guardian - than Nu Who can with the returns of the Daleks, Cybermen or the Master?? The kid's show is doing all the heavy-lifting!
Of course, if Voldie-wannabe is the Black Guardian, where is the White? If there is anything to this Guardians business, presumedly it was the White Guardian that gave Sarah Jane her box (which she gave to Maria)?

Date: 2007-11-07 04:06 am (UTC)Ahem! I seem to remember someone writing a fic on those lines. The Eternals have also been name-dropped a couple of times in Who already).Although between the "chaos" obsession, flat-out threatening the Doctor, the bargaining (but only paying up upon agreement / giving over your free will), "waking or sleeping" and apparently massive time & space powers? I'm a bit biased though to the BG idea, since that would mean Sarah Jane faced down the effing Black Guardian all by her lonesome... srsly, dude. Then again, so did Turlough (eventually), but still!!

ReaverFuturekind in "Utopia" or so I hear. He was totally scarier here (on the kiddie show! HA!).
