SGA 310 - The Return pt. 1
Sep. 22nd, 2006 10:34 pmSo apparently Asurans - who look *exactly* like Ancients - have the capacity to create an exact Atlantis facsimile, but not warships? A little lack of foresight gentlemen... but like I care. Everything else? Pure awesomeness through and through. Surprisingly good "season" finale for what wasn't originally supposed to be a finale.
It's probably just the mood I'm in (or the two mocha fraps I had earlier)... I giggled when the "Ancient" woman made the console rise... and Ronon points his hand canon at it. heee Shoot that vicious console Ronon!!
John, goes from military commander of an Ancient city to commanding a bunch of flunkies who can't even walk right. *sighs* Gotta suck.
I don't know what I loved more, Ronon grabbing John and flipping him around (which seemed very spontaneous to me... I wonder if that was scripted?) or John/Rodney's dinner date. I don't think I can choose. They're all so close and the ep was heartbreaking, but not in a gratuitous way, mostly because you knew they weren't going to be gone for long... but yeah. They were leaving with little hope of ever seeing Atlantis again.
Poor Elizabeth. Having a little trouble readjusting. Although you'd think the SGC would pay out a little more. I suppose the ridiculously small hotel room / apartment was to drum in the idea of claustrophobia and mundanity and visualize the stagnation of Elizabeth's life without Atlantis... But jesus. Leader of the Atlantean expedition in a galaxy far far away and it looks like she's shacking up in a Ramada. Really sad (which was the point ::likes to champion the obvious::). And the SGC is CHEAP!
Leidon? Kind of looks like ass. It was wishful thinking on his part asking Teyla and Ronon to join forces, but... even if he was someone else. The Genii apparently can't afford razors or shampoo, but they have big, dangerous plans to wipe-out the Wraith (Someone going to tell the about the Asurans...? Thought not)? Yeah. I probably wouldn't have been too quick to sign up either.
However, Leidon was right about Ronon. I think he probably would have turned that hand cannon on himself if he had to spend his life as a bean farmer. With or without Teyla and her sexy midriffs.
::randomness:: I'm listening to Flogging Molly, but it's doing no good. Every time I see that damn diamond / dandelion commercial that Dusty song gets stuck in my head all. the. day. long. At least it's a good song.
This ep pretty much had all kinds of squee... and the team in civvies. But, despite my rabid love of Dr. Who and the sex-incarnate that is David Tennant, six months really blows. [ If it weren't for Canada it would blow even more!! ]
Since I have my SERIOUS doubts O'Neill is putrifying in an Atlantis hallway somewhere, I'd probably put a fair bet on him vouching for Shep & posse once he gets back to the SGC. Although a dodgy relationship with SGC/Earth may be an interesting thing... depending on how long the SGC will be around / in contact after whatever happens in end of SG1. You see, I'm one of those people that want SGC/the Earth to go boom (or overrun by dragons?) and Earthlings scrambling to nearby planets / ships / stargates about the Milky Way (and probably some refugees to Atlantis) in SG1's finale and the SGAers are *completely* stranded (so like season one, but with near impossible reestablishment of galactic communication), but I'm scary like that.
And on an entirely unrelated note (well, not really considering how much Sci-Fi has been airing the ads... not that I'm complaining)... David Tennant on Sci-Fi is a good thing. A very very good thing. TENOMGSQUEEEEE!!!!1111

Date: 2006-09-23 04:37 am (UTC)Although would you have really wanted to get into the particulars of the walking sex god that is Doctor Ten(nant)... with your dad? I probably couldn't, but then I'd have filthy Casanova (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427042/) flashbacks flying through my brain and the Doctor piddling with his sonic screwdriver. Perhaps some things are better left to misinterpretation.
He might not be the actor Eccleston is, but ... oh dear god, those pinstripes look sinful on him. Those pinstripes sell the whole series.
Also? Loved the Shep throwing. And Shep just being awkward about leaving them there.
Kind of sad too, because according to Shep/Asuran!Delusion in "Progeny", Ronon and Teyla would have gotten to tag along (if Atlantis went boom). I'm inclined to say - as opposed to, you know, logic and not wanting Teyla and Ronon stranded there to sink - Shep's subconscious sekretly wants to pack them up in those boxes and take them with him. Especially the big, man-throwing puppy that is Ronon.
