SGA 3.04 "Sateda"

retro_eidasAs fun as last week's ep was... this week totally owned.
Rodney. Arrow. Ass. Morphine. HEEEE!!!
Heh. Sateda looks (or looked) like CGI Chicago... or Winnipeg (by way of Silent Hill post-cull). We didn't get any background info on Sateda's weapons tech / why they're so advanced (when most planets in Peg seem like "backwater Hamlets" as Rodney put it, barring the Genii) or why the Wraith couldn't/wouldn't feed on Ronon... however, they didn't forget about Kell. I still think there's going to be backlash of some kind re: Kell. I get an impression we're getting these tidbits of what a total spineless fucker this guy was, enough for Ronon to gun him down mercilessly... it feels quite foreshadowy. Sateda - via the radio transmission & flashbacks - was giving me a very dystopic / police-state vibe. Then again it could be that general 40s look every. other. world. besides. Earth. seems to have in SG.
Can all the Wraith do that glowy eye / night vision thing or is that just for special occasions? I don't think we've ever seen that before?
::is shocked:: Ronon in other clothes besides leather? I think I prefer the leather. Hard to be bad ass when you look like Tom Sawyer.
Ronon is quite the bad ass, allbeit now a deaf one apparently very apt at reading lips (setting off a grenade in a tunnel?). Lovely shot though.
Awww. The Atlanteans are all the family John (or Ronon) have left. They'd do anything for their adopted family. Nice paralleling between John and Ronon. Even sacrifice themselves if it came to that.
And awww again, Rodney sees Ronon like the primate brother he never had! I also loved Carson and Rodney fighting on who gets the very big gun to storm in and save them all. Carson: "And you're a terrible shot!" Rodney: "Oh, what?! And you're Rambo now?" HEEE again! Although he apparently is Rambo... shot a drone right up Wraith-King's nose. Damn.
Joe Flanigan is a very good actor. Just had to say that. Why don't they give him more 'acting' moments, eh? I'm also glad to see Jason Momoa can do more than the whole, "Grrrr! Hate Wraith! HULK SMASH!" thing.
And I can't explain it, but I loved that Ronon's wife/girlfriend was a nurse/doctor. I guess some part of me thought she'd be space commando-esque or would be in his battalion or something. I guess it makes sense his SO wouldn't necessarily be like him (Satedan civ seemingly as advanced as it was... wonder how they got away with that for as long as they did btw?)
Next week: [ The return of the Replicators. Well, the first gen anyway. I've had trepidation over that. Seems a bit been-there-done-that... but the Replicators were very scary. Wonder if we will get any Hermiod reaction? ]
