Bleach 226 and Cupid

retro_eidasRyuuken shooting Uryuu through the heart? A (near) death blow for sure, but all apparently to restore Uryuu's powers... but the symbology? Can't help but suddenly picture Ryuuken as a cherub flitting around Uryuu's head. Allbeit, a total bastard cherub. I'd also spec Kubo is playing out some prolonged A Midsummer Night's Dream homage... allbeit with death gods, mystical archers and set entirely in Japan / Soul Society / "Heaven".
If I were more a demented speccer regarding IshiHime, I might almost take this as a sign of Ryuuken's current actions leading to eventual, definitive IshiHime in canon. Orihime entering the chapter (where the Vaizard are dumbstruck by her powers, markedly comparing her abilities to their own Hime is SO Ichigo's sister.) which also coincidentally has Uryuu's long-awaited return to the manga? And, I'd guess (based on the ending), Uryuu on the verge of some massive rebirth... via a (fatal) heart wound. What was of old will die, to be reborn into something else? Something stronger... with a stronger heart?
Ryuuken shoots Uryuu to restore his powers, Uryuu eventually (likely after much dramatic hemming and hawing) uses his powers to once again fight alongside Shinigami and likely some major catalyst convinces him into it. My guess is it's saving Orihime (likely from Aizen. We had the Arrancar commenting on her abilities, now it's the Vaizard. Seems like she's got a big "Kidnap me Aizen" sign painted on her forehead)... because protecting someone (or understanding what his father was protecting, per Souken) is something - the one and only thing? - Uryuu needs to be a true Quincy? Only when Uryuu knows what he wants to protect - and this something he loves dearly, something you'd be willing to give up everything for, something you'd die for (?) - is when he will be his most powerful? That *something* is or will be Orihime? Thus a new big story arc is born. Also the arc that could hopefully ::crosses fingers:: lead to Robin (aka, Kubo) restoring amends. All those in love with the wrong people and/or blind to the love right before them will be in love with the *right* people by the end. An all new world... which makes sense in an Ancient Greek sort of way. In several of their creation myths, Eros came first. So go on Ryuuken! Usher in the new world and shoot that pretty boy of yours... he needs to protect his (as yet to be revealed) true source of Quincy power!

Particularly if there's another big arc coming (and how I would LOVE to be wrong!! Who will teach Yuzu "Who is SOOO a Quincy and I don't care how mad that sounds" Kurosaki the ways of the Quincy if he dies?! ::makes crazy eyes::). He needs to live for 'Hime damn it and make her really happy for once! Not this empty happiness she thinks she's found in unrequittedly fawning over Kurosaki-kun!
