Apr. 21st, 2005 11:56 amHow very glad I am I didn't get that Jeep Grand Cherokee in high school.

And how I revel in the schadenfreude of my poser cousin who got the Escalade his freshman year in college. He couldn't afford the gas guzzler in the first place and to top things off, he lives in LA. *snorts*
My Toyota Corolla may be lame, but I didn't have to move back in with my parents to keeping it running. Bu-bye phat ride.
On a side note.... Good LAWD gas is expensive. And I'm still futiley wishing someone (anyone) finally fixes Murka's damn disgraceful rail system. I do fear what's going to happen in the next 15 years or so if this country doesn't find a more energy-efficient means of transport.

Date: 2005-04-22 03:43 pm (UTC)We are a automobile centric society. One must have the newest, brightest and best car on the block, and we even use the car for something as simple as going to the store at the end of the block. We have no decent transit services: no buses, trains, shuttles. All we have is the big gas guzzling auto. Grrr.........
My husband is reimbursed for his gas on his job. However, while the price of gas has gone up, his reimbursment has remained the same, so at the end of the week he is actually loosing money out of his pocket.
