Why does it seem to be that the American trailers for "MI-5" seem to be rather painfully dependent on assrock? First it was Three Doors Down (which I will admit, I have a miniscule softspot for "Kryptonite" ... and only "Kryptonite". The S1 ads were festered with "When I'm Gone")... but "Someday" by Nickelback? Why god? How exactly does that song or that band do the show any justice? And on A&E? Has the trashiness of "Growing Up Guido" and the "Bounty Hunting Mullet" gone to their heads?
I've come to prefer "MI-5" over "Alias" for storytelling quality... but "Alias" plays vastly better songs in their ads. I'll have to give ABC that much, even if their announcers sometimes say the dumbest shit ("Double OOOooohh Yeah"). "Mama" by Genesis? Good! Nickelback? BAD! Play some Blur or Pulp for god's sakes A&E.
I miss Tom already. Don't get me wrong. I like this new Adam guy... but Tom is TOM!! If I can't have Tom, I hope at least Matthew Macfadyen breaks out here after the Keira Knightley P&P remake. I already know it's not touching the BBC version, but Macfadyen-as-Darcy gives it some points... and, random, but is Keira Knightley the luckiest bitch who ever lived? Besides Macfadyen, look at this list of co-stars... Jack Davenport, Johnny Depp, Rodrigo Santoro, Adrien Brody, Clive Owen and Ioan Gruffudd? I refuse to believe this woman still has her soul.
More randomness, but in those future unknown Matthew Macfadyen projects, in my land of dream castings, I think one of them should include Christopher Meloni (aka, Det. Stabler from "Law & Order: SVU" ). They both have that very hot penal code quality to them. Maybe a good cop (spy) / bad cop (spy) sort of movie.

Date: 2005-01-12 12:12 am (UTC)It's not only the music in the trailer. They intercut the Nickelback video in with some of the S3 clips. So, basically, it's a Nickelback video with a little "Spooks" on the side. :cringes:
Overall I'd still give Alias preference over MI-5 (but I'm flush having rewatched season 2)
S2 was still good (SpyMommy!)... but S3 totally deluded my fanon. I tried watching the S4 premiere... but... meh. Tom may be gone (one ep to go here), but at least the SPOOKS writers seem to care more about Adam then the ALIAS yokels did about some of those new S3 characters.
