14) One of sixteen vestal virgins who were leaving for the coast

Again, WHITER SHADE OF PALE (for which I always give the original artist, Procol Harum, though I know Annie Lennox covered it).

20) Rent a flat above a shop, cut your hair and get a job.

Ummm...A DAY IN THE LIFE by the Beatles?? It's got the right cadence.

Hell, I'm really out of popular music these days.

You got "Whiter Shade of Pale", but I'm pretty sure #20 wasn't a Beatles lyric (although you're getting that general vicinity right ;).

And I could be miscalculating, but I'm pretty sure at least 1/3 of those songs are older than me. heee

Well, I guess I was out of pop music then too!!

12.-Amiga mia, by Alejandro Sanz (cutie pie!)
22.- Wonderwall, by Oasis (I have no idea if that's how the title's written)
29.- One, by U2

And now, thanks to you, I won't be able to get that One song out of my head...

*goes singing "looove is a temple...*

I won't be able to get that One song out of my head...

heee At least that's a good song. I admittedly have a couple songs you wouldn't want to get stuck in your head up there... which I, for some shameful reason, know all the lyrics too. *facepalms*

Or Crowded House.

Sixpence None the Richer remade that song? That just seems very wrong to me somehow.

2) Queen - "Don't Stop Me Now" (Freddie sings it better than I do, but I can scream louder :P)
6) Loreena McKennitt - "The Mummer's Dance" (I actually had that on my list too, but then scratched it)
15) "Son of a Preacher Man" - the question is not who sang it, but rather who on earth hasn't, yet :P
18) Enya - "May It Be"
19) "Mad World" - I forgot who wrote the orgininal, as I only know the Gary Jules version
23) Nirvana - "Lithium"

One or two others that were not already guessed seemed familiar, but I can't pinpoint them, that's it from me.

Tears For Fears, I think.

heee Ditto. Although I'm hard pressed imagining anyone singing that song like or better than Freddie.

"Son of a Preacher Man" - the question is not who sang it, but rather who on earth hasn't, yet :P

Not that you'd really want to listen to any other version besides Dusty Springfield's. ;)

And [livejournal.com profile] em_meredith beat me to Tears for Fears singing "Mad World" first. As far as I know, it's only T4F and Gary Jules who sang that song.

Nobody can sing that song better than Freddie. In fact, few people can sing any song as good as Freddie, which makes his death an even bigger shame.

Not that you'd really want to listen to any other version besides Dusty Springfield's - errr, I think I only have Roberta Flack's *hides*

Ah, yes, Tears for Fears, I always forget it was them.
