Usually I'm working now, but not with this much snow.

Not sure what's the point of these exactly, but to show I apparently do have way too much time on my hands... or I'm old enough to have seen (read) this many. Ugh.

It seems if you want genuinely good, scary movies that make your skin crawl (that don't make you puke from motion sickness ::glares at Blair Witch:: and where there aren't actresses in them that make you scream "Shut up!" every two seconds) we've got to import them from Korea or Japan. Of course, in all fairness, I actually liked the American version of "The Ring" a lot ("Ringu" was a little too fantastical for my liking... but then it's ending felt more satisfying). Then again I'm slightly biased since I think Naomi Watts is one of the best Australian imports since Hugh Jackman.

I recently found out there's going to be an American remake of the ubercreepy "Dark Water" (Honogurai mizu no soko kara) starring Jennifer Connelly, John C. Reilly and Tim Roth to name a few. This remake hopefully will be on par with "The Ring", the cast looks great, but I'd seriously suggest watching the original DW first if you get the chance before you get spoiled by Hollywood big budget effects and A-list celebs. There's just something so much scarier about a movie that depends more on creativity and clever camera-work/cinematography as opposed to CGI.

In related news, I mentioned "Siren" for PS2 earlier in my LJ. The game was recently selected as one of the most anticipated games of 2004 by GameSpy. Not exactly a film, but... GAH. This looks freaky! The primary characters are all rendered by scanning in *real* Japanese actors, so the characters look like real people. It's going to kick up the creepy factor 10 fold. You're also not playing as badass cops (i.e., Resident Evil) or whatnot, you're playing as *normal* people. So the game is more hide and seek then confrontational and you have scary monsters and zombies chasing after you. You play as 10 different people in the course of the game. There's apparently this ability where you can somehow telepathically see through the eyes of other characters (alive or dead)... including as characters you've played as before (no longer alive!). I've read there will be times when you'll be able to see yourself via this ability (Seeing things through the eyes of other characters - you won't know if it's someone good or someone bad looking at you!). S.c.a.r.y.

heee. Muchos updates today. This movie is going to rock. A blind samurai masseuse goes around avenging the deaths of stranded geishas' parents. Awesome. And there's a big dance number at the end... for no real reason it seems. LOL
