You know what? I think Ben really is going to turn out to be Dean's son. As folks have been speculating since TKAA, but obviously most recently due to the random Lisa is randomness so near the end of the season. Though beyond that, I just remembered, in the Bible, Benjamin was the name of Rachel and Jacob's youngest son.

The Whore of Babylon was posing as a girl named Leah. In the Bible, Leah was Rachel's sister and Jacob's first wife (who he was conned into marrying instead of Rachel, he eventually married Rachel later). The same Jacob who famously wrestled an angel which, hey, Dean himself perpetually finds himself doing, both literally and metaphorically.

I could believe there was something of a parallel between Leah and Lisa in 5x17, if only for the female face of evil and a female face of good. Both also are directly connected to Dean, the evil woman Dean vanquished and the good woman he vows to fight for. Monster and Mother. Leah and Rachel. And there's the sibling strife again.

Though if Ben does turn out to be Dean's kid, and gets possessed by either Michael or Lucifer, watch Jesse show up one way or another. If we don't get a repeat of the Jimmy, Claire and Castiel situation with Dean saying yes to spare Ben, then watch Ben get angeled-up and face-off either with an angeled-up Adam or angeled-up Jesse or just Jesse (he obviously already has massive cosmic powers). Or Jesse the wild card. It will be some heavy-handed metaphor about the next generation paying for the transgressions of the old. Super-powered moppets ATTACK!! Just like Dragonball! LOL

After the episode aired I had the same thought about Ben (i.e. that he would be Dean's son and possibly Michael's vessel) but having Jesse show up never accord to me. Good theory.

That certainly would explain Lisa showing up completely out of no where. I'm leaning towards Jesse (or Sam, Cas and/or Bobby hunting him down) single-handedly averting Armageddon in the 11th Hour, like a certain book Jesse's story was basically pilfered from (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Omens). The fight itself is Michael!Ben or Dean vs. Lucifer!Adam or Dean, or vice versa.

Kripke stole from Good Omens? I never would have guessed. *rolls eyes* I'm leaning that way too.

i hate the idea so much. frankly i hope the writers forget about ben and lisa gain after this. i wouldn't even complain about plot holes or whatever.

edit: i don't even want to see jesse again. i thought the antichirst ep was one of the most WTF ones of the season, i'll give the writers a pass if they completely forget he ever happened. i know i did.

I don't care for it at all either. Dean and the dream insta-family (though Lisa as "the perfect woman for Dean" was Gamble's doing, or so I've heard, and o hai, guess who's showrunner next year!) or the potential for the super-powered moppet showdown. But with all the anvilicious crap about bloodlines this season and Lisa showing up all of a sudden nearly at the end here? Well, I know what I'm thinking. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm going to bet I'm not in this case.

ETA. Jesse's story was so shamelessly lifted from Good Omens, I honestly don't know how he's *not* going to show up in 5x22. Not to mention his name likely comes from this guy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Custer), so there's your antichrist and your Christ (or Second Coming) figure for the biblical apocalypse.

I don't know what the writers have in store regarding whether or not Ben is actually Dean's son. What I do know is that *Dean* is convinced that Ben is his son. I mean, Lisa is completely interchangable with a bunch of different women Dean has been with. Nothing special about her. The reason why she's Dean's ultimate girl is because she's his baby mama, or so Dean thinks.

I really hope they don't bring Jesse back. It would be such a lame cheat, to have the God-moded kid magically save the day. :P

At this point, I'd much rather watch the adventures of Ben and Jesse than Sam and Dean. Awkward teen slash with angely!Ben and antichrist!Jesse FTW! Come on, you can't say that wouldn't be funny and massively entertaining. I imagine it a lot like Aziraphale's and Crowley's relationship, only Ben's the cool one. XD
