  • I haven't been particularly secretive about my Dean/Cas batshit, so suffice to say, I loved Dean/Cas buddy cop hour. More please??

  • Dean doing up Cas' tie and straightening his collar. Holy. Jesus. I could almost hear the slashers across the country going apeshit (I'm pretty sure I've seen that fanfic'd a few times since the 5.03 promo pics came out). Dean did it so casually too.

  • The scene questioning the cop was invoking major Kirk/Spock vibes to me. Cas' apparent inability to lie and earnestness and Dean cranking the inner Lothario to 11 (how many times did he leer at women in the ep? The writers saying, "We don't care how much chemistry Jensen and Misha have that's busting at the seams in this ep!! We're going to great lengths to prove Dean's total and absolute straightness so time for *LEERING AT AS MANY WOMENS AS POSSIBLE* plan!!" Yeah guys, that didn't and hasn't stop the Kirk/Spock shippers either). Then the banter, it was so strongly mirroring the pick-up truck scene in "The Voyage Home"? I half-expected Dean to take the cop out for pizza afterward.

  • Unfortunately, you could tell Dean was BSing himself at the end there, going on about how he was happier without his family and happier alone. Then even Cas disappears and you can tell he's not happy at all.

  • HOWEVER! That laugh he had earlier was totally genuine (I've already noticed some folks writing it off, saying it was as fake as the speech at the end. Nope, sorry, don't agree there). The sad look afterward was him realizing how long it's really been since he's laughed with Sam around and the realization of how long Dean and Sam haven't been Dean'n'Sam. Probably also spared a few unpleasant thoughts on a certain 40 years of his non-living status which, just a guess, probably wasn't a laugh riot. That the first really good laugh he should have is with an awkward, bemused angel of the Lord who doesn't really understand humanity. Anyway... Cas made Dean laugh! Then Cas smiled because Dean was happy. Yeah, the shipper in me was near tears (shut up!!)

  • Dean's pep talk to Cas? Do I have to say it? Alright then, LOVED IT TOO! It paralleled the scene in ITGPSW, when Sam - disillusioned by the angels' dickitude - was losing faith and Dean tried to encourage Sam to not lose his faith in God, though His angels might be dicks. Ditto the scene with Cas. Screw Uriel and screw Raphael.

  • The actor playing Raphael was brilliant. The short amount of time we saw him he was going for a whole range of emotion. I almost felt sorry for the guy until I remembered, you know, Apocalypse. However, I suspect he may be an Inspector Javert-type, we'll see. Although his black... in this show.... but I very much want to keep him and perhaps if we say it enough he can buck the trend? *HOPES* DAMN YOU KRIPKE! STOP KILLING THE BLACK GUYS OFF!! GO KILL ANNA IF YOU HAVE TO KILL AN ANGEL, SHE'S USELESS!!

  • *sighs* I've been saying it was probably Lucifer that brought Castiel back to life. Raphael might have been a scary bastard, but I don't necessarily think he was necessarily wrong with what he said either. Again, if only because that's the vastly more fucked up route and since Dean and Sam both have their current torments, Cas likely needs his as well. Being the new guy and all. Welcome to the Winchester club of family angst and misery, Cas!

  • I just browsed through TWOP's reaction thread and there seems to be a general thumbs down consensus on Sam's story. Granted, I could have used more Jessica in there (though obviously fucked-up considering what she unsurprisingly was) for the emotional poignancy, at least the reminder of Sam's lost love. I really was glad to see Sam hasn't forgotten to fight mano-a-mano after getting bitchslapped by Meg and a rotary phone in 5.01. Yeah, he doesn't need the demon blood to fight (screw you Ruby!). I cheered when he spit out that blood too. However, Lindsey (was that her name?) was rather forgettable.

  • And technically, Sam kissed Lucifer, didn't he? (that kinky bastard! Not that I could blame him, I have to say, JPad was looking mighty fine in this ep, they all were). Also unsurprisingly echoing Ruby's words, "It had to be you Sam" (WHY is that again? They ever going to tell us?) Although, does this mean the Sam/Lucifer comm is opening soon as a Through The Looking Glass version of Dean/Castiel? I'm... sort of sickly intrigued.

  • And basically, the only thing standing in between the superpowered Heavenly assholes and the boys are their wills & one virgin angel (allbeit with bad ass upgrade)? I hope they haven't forgotten how to pray.

NEXT WEEK: Double the Dean, Cas tripping fantastic and orgies (please, we all know who's at the top of that list but just refuses to go cuz he's got to keep up the John Connor surly facade) and so-obviously-Lucifered-out!Sam in a white suit. Although I really hope JPad doesn't attempt the cheap Brando knock-off voice a la Alastair (or Constantine's Lucifer). Please say that died with Alastair. *cringes*

Yeah, but even when there's superangst, the pain hurts so good. This is like the ultimate manpain show.

Why haven't these two just went ahead and gotten gay married in Iowa already??

They must!

I know I won't even have to ask for the fic either of the day before they must face Lucifer and very high possibility of grizzly demise for all, Dean fulfills that promise to Cas himself. XD

I fear I may have to write that fic . . .

There is something tragic and fucked up though about those hunters being old buddies of John's. It's almost like deadbeat daddy is still mucking up their lives, 4 years cold in the grave.

Tragic and fucked up is apparently the driving force of the show AND IT'S GLORIOUS. But yeah. It's especially so with Sam, because he's the one with the life really torn apart by all this. His story's kind of a better written version of sorts of Davis' on whywhywhyville last season.

I know the waits are no worse than last year, but now that we have ultraslashy Dean/Cas team of hot chem, eye sexin and hilarity? IT'S TORTURE!!!

TOTAL CRUELTY!!!

Yeah, but even when there's superangst, the pain hurts so good. This is like the ultimate manpain show.

Is it too sick/embarrassing I'm waiting for the ep Cas cries because Dean hurt his feelings? Probably Dean just found out about Cas letting Sam out of the panic room. You know they're not going to reveal that until it would be utmost painful for Dean *and* Cas.

I fear I may have to write that fic . . .

I believe you must!!

It's especially so with Sam, because he's the one with the life really torn apart by all this.

Although I'm glad it was confirmed Sam was full of crap when he was going on and on last season about being unable to go back to a normal life. We got tastes of it Thursday that he can cope just fine in it, even despite the factor of missing Dean. Sam was the one that could always do normal. Dean, despite the idyllic fantasies he used to have, never really could. Of course, now they've given him a friend even more socially awkward than him? He almost looks norm by comparison. lol

I think that's partly what appeals to me so much about Dean/Cas. They're both characters that fit in better in the fringe. Despite Cas being an angel, it's almost like Dean has more in common with him than Sam (which does give me interesting thinky thoughts considering Dean's own angelic connection). As much as I LOVE the Dean-Sammy dynamic, they are pretty much opposites. I also want Sammy to be able to go back to Stanford one day, but that's not a life I see Dean following him anymore than before. It hurts to think about (BUT THE ANGST OMG), but if this whole angel arc pans out for Dean, he might not even be able to exist on any mortal plane when all is said and done. Like he'll have to go the way of Frodo and sail off to the West with Cas and have tons and tons of sex on Heaven's elf yacht, but that's leaving Sam(wise) behind to live a normal life. Dean with Cas, waiting until Sam's lived a full human life (having some more Winchesters, keep the family line going) and at the end of it he can reunite and be all angelic with Dean.... until another 2000 years passes and Cas & the Winchester angels have to go down to Earth and kick ass again or protect Sam's lineage/the next messiah. XD Dude, you know that would be epic.

His story's kind of a better written version of sorts of Davis' on whywhywhyville last season.

Yeah, I can see that. The whole nice guy but with the beast within. Dean's got the beast angle too, but he's not quite as mild-mannered as Davis or Sam (when they weren't in kill-drug-dealers or avenge-Dean Ruthless Modes, of course). They're both like better written versions of Davis.

Heh. I hear SV is doing their own version of the apocalypse this season too. Something about Lois' jumping into a dystopic future and traumatized by what she saw. Oh wow, guess what SPN is doing in 5.04? I wonder which story will turn out to be better?? [/THINKS REALLY REALLY HARD]

And if it doesn't happen . . . well there's another fic idea.

That's beautiful. *tries to imagine Dean saying "Oh Sam, you have so much to enjoy and to be and to do" and remembers when Frodo's leaving made her weep like a fool* The show has toyed with the idea of Dean watching/letting Sam go back to a normal life so many times. He could be at peace with it if he had Cas and a (probably vain) hope Sam's doing so could break the Winchester *curse*. Talk about bittersweet.

They're both like better written versions of Davis.

The truth of this hurts me, because I love Davis. But there was some not so good writing there at times.

Something about Lois' jumping into a dystopic future and was traumatized by what she saw. LOIS SAW THE REST OF S9 AND IS SCARRED FOR LIFE! haha SV should just stop.

LOTR is pretty much the only thing comparable to SPN when it comes Epic Canon Manlove as far as I'm concerned. I was wibbly so. many. times. during ROTK.

I swear Dean is somewhere between Frodo and Aragorn. Frodo for the terrible burden he has to bear that he shouldn't have to bear ("I don't envy the weight that's on your shoulders, Dean"), but Aragorn for the epic thrilling heroics and de facto leader status (cuz he's the older brother, but also the tie to Michael) and having greatness (but also potential catastrophe) in his (angelic vessel) blood. Hell, one of Dean's fave songs is Ramble On (http://www.geocities.com/Athens/2406/ramble.html) which is much debated as either a Frodo or Aragorn song.

And Cas is Arwen. YOU KNOW THIS IS TRUE! ;P We even got a very special pendant (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v379/eidothea/spn/spn502-0206.jpg) representing epic, ethereal agape love / the divine (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v379/eidothea/spn/arwen-evenstar-pendant-l.jpg). XD

I have long believed that this is the way it was going to go down even before Dean got his own epic destiny. Now that he has gotten epic angelic destiny, I'd seriously be surprised if it didn't happen that way. Dean would have to let Sam go, vice versa, either because he's died, he's gotten too inhuman and/or knew this is the only way to ensure Sam won't be tempted by the darkside.

The truth of this hurts me, because I love Davis. But there was some not so good writing there at times.

Davis was pretty much the only good thing about SV last season, but... it's still SV, dude.

LOIS SAW THE REST OF S9 AND IS SCARRED FOR LIFE!

I'm surprised she wasn't blinded. She'd be like bimbo Tiresias. Sees nothing yet sees all and proclaims it in a lamely pithy fashion.
