Apparently Star Trek is back in IMAX theaters this weekend, probably as one last hurrah for the end of Summer and to tide over the truly ill nuTrekkies (like me!!) craving the blu-ray in November.

Yup. I'm going again. It really is an illness. I should seek help, perhaps after I go digging through my laundry to find my LV con t-shirt.

EEEEEE!! Trek in IMAX again!!! EEEEE!!!

FYT here's the chibi nu!crew being chibi (by KotoriK from DevArt)

I was going to post the hotness of nuKirk/Uhura but suspected possible defriendings if I did such a thing *smirks like the evil shipper-of-possible-future-geometrical-romance-angst I am*

You wouldn't be suggesting that I would ever do such a thing, would you? ;)

Ooh, ST in IMAX...Maybe my dad will want to do that over Labor Day weekend...

OF COURSE NOT!!!!

*rapidly hides magazine with Kirk/Uhura cover under the bed in fear of maiming*

I kid, though I find it amusing three folks I know are quite into the Spock/Uhura on my flist are the three that respond to this post first. lol *is lonely in her obviously crazed, misguided Kirk/Uhura shipping boat that I somehow just couldn't seem to help jumping on board*

Labor Day weekend, forgot about that completely. Which also means a packed theater. Very glad I have my ticket already. XD And yes!! You should totally go so we can revitalize our sad nuTrekkieness and find that damn floating R2D2!

I'm actually not against it; it just doesn't pique my ficcing interest like S/U, and this is mainly because of TOS and there was just something extra with them. And I also like Mc/U (I told you I like my harem! lol). I do read K/U fic, though, but primarily off LJ.

How can you not love the Harem? It's not only the aesthetic factor, but the whole cast pretty much has chemistry with each other. TOS and reboot alike. The much less noble, shameful parts of my brain keep falling back on Dionysian type debaucheries.

Exactly this. Exactly this.

This could just be me, but lurking around I've noticed lately there seems to be an improvement in the quality of K/U fic on LJ (as in, not ignoring her rel'p with Spock and a more organic development between K/U that stays true to both characters). Dare I hope the fic overall continues to improve?

I like the organic development. I think Uhura has chemistry with everyone. My personal preference leans more toward Spock and McCoy, but there's definitely a foundation of mutual respect between Kirk and Uhura that I think could be developed by the right writers. I'm glad they don't ignore her relationship; and I hope they don't make the breakup something very juvenile. They are two grown, mature people and I think that even if a relationship doesn't work out between S/U, they would definitely be friends.
