The last ep of SPN is only getting more absurd every time I watch it. All the more reason to pretend it never happened.

From Aunty Mib on TWOP:

Anna sits up and says: I remember who I really am. I'm an ever so powerful Angel of the Lord who used to have a relationship with Castiel and used to boss around Uriel and I fell to Earth like a meteorite like in Stardust and I just want to fall in LOVE like on Wings of Desire and have sex like Titanic and did I mention that my name is MARY SUE.

I still can't figure out if they were really expecting us to take Anna's story seriously. I believe they were. *facepalm*

I honestly think the writers have some real, physical deficiency in their inability to write female characters with depth without screwing the pooch at some point. Look at the angels. Castiel? Awesome. Uriel? A dick, but still awesome. Anna.... magic angel tree, literally plummeted from the sky like some busted satellite when she "fell" (is Heaven on Mars then? Jupiter maybe? Are the writers Scientologists?) and a bloody fobnecklace (if Who's story was the Wings of Desire, SPN's "Heaven and Hell" was undoubtedly the City of Angels. The paltry, Americanized knock-off of a more dignified, poignant story).

Right now, I'm more hopeful then dreading the Lucifer storyline, as they've got 2 out of 3 stories in the angel mytharc right... and the fact Lucifer happens to be male. It's sad that if Kripke did go the Mel Gibson route and cast the devil as one of those sinful, unclean womens? The SPN writers would mess it up somehow.

I rewatched the episode and... I think I'm with you in that I'd like to pretend it didn't happen. Anna just gets on my nerves more and more.

It seems like they really need to get their mythology straight (for example, Anna's accusation that Angels don't feel anything seems to go against all of Castiel's actions/expressions and Uriel's anger and disdain). I am also dreading the Lucifer storyline--hopefully season 5 will be confirmed and they'll have time to really put some thought into this story arc and do it justice over two seasons (though this may just be my wishful thinking).

Not to mention the rather glaring fact that, if angels don't have feelings, than it should have never bothered her big unknowable Daddy never called. It gave her a bad enough of case of Call The Waaaaahmbulance she ran away from home. I don't know if it's just sloppy writing or some purposeful situation showing how self-absorbed angels can apparently get (See! Humans aren't the only ones that can be neurotic and selfish!)

I'm hoping this two-parter was just a big hiccup and they go back to the rhythm from earlier in the season. I don't want to think 4.9/10 is symptomatic for the Lucifer story which really must be epic. Maybe 4.11 might turn that around (a month and a half from now! UGH), but I'm not so hopeful right now.
