Due to all the mystery surrounding Wendy's father and the almost thoroughly painfully platonic nature of MM/WW's relationship*? I've been suspecting the writers might go Luke & Leia on us and MM & WW end up being siblings. Half-siblings by way of Peter Watson. How she said MM reminds her of her dad. How we had a paternity mishap in the Terra Cotta warrior ep. MM refusing to tell Wendy his real name, but apparently it's the "same as [his] father's" (Peter Watson, Jr., perhaps?). MM is Mr. Boy Scout whose always going to have Wendy's back, but his protection of her almost seems overly zealous (when he was practically willing to torture Pip for plagiarizing off Wendy and to wanting to knock Doorknob!Ben's head off), not so much as a guy interested in that way, but almost like an older brother. There's also an almost cryptic line from MM after Wendy makes a comment wondering if her dad would be proud of her, he says something like, "Maybe he still is." I don't know, but I could the impression there he knew more than he was willing to say. Just like, for whatever reason, he won't tell her his name.
Of course, if they are siblings, that would mean it was an extraordinary coincidence Wendy just happened to be working at a lab that ended up having a mishap that needed the MM's assistance, thus how he met Wendy and also realized she was ideal MM-material. That would have had to have been a set-up, either by MM himself or by Wendy's dad to get them together and a test to prove Wendy was MM-material. Just like her brother, possibly also just like her/their dad?
I do think the daddy subplot is all leading somewhere big, but what that is I'm ob still guessing. I wouldn't be surprised at all, however, it's tied directly with the MM somehow. Which could be me championing the obvious, daddy's life is dropping the mystery anvils hard enough, him being connected to either O2STK or the MM is probably unavoidable. On a sidenote, I've read some other spec, due to the names "Wendy" and "Peter", that Peter Watson - like Peter Pan - might be immortal. That certainly would cover the weird quotient and (not-so-nice) Titanic Tuba Player could have been foreshadowing of this. However, I've also wondered if Wendy's dad, banking on him being an immortal, might not have been such a good guy, maybe a Nazi amongst any other dubious roles. Sarcastic File Clerk of the Underworld - while searching for Wendy's dad's file - asked Wendy if her dad was in the Luftwaffe (this was apparently prior him knowing he was a pilot, WW didn't mention that until after he asked IIRC). File Clerk also seemed stunned by something he saw in Peter Watson's file, Wendy unfortunately couldn't find out what it was before getting dragged away. In another Nazi ref, Roxy jokes the MM attire looks like "Hitler's Smoking Jacket". Another Luftwaffe ref comes from MM's "Hawks of the Luftwaffe!" in the Boy Band ep. Maybe it's nothing, maybe it's going somewhere, I don't know.
*It almost baffles me why the relationship between them is so very platonic. Maybe they're just not each other's types, but it also seems to me they're both pretty lonely people. Sexy Boss Man especially. They're also facing danger together constantly. Here's a pretty girl (just as pretty - and the same age as - Lacey, IMO) who's in on the big Middleman, comic book terror secret so would understand him in a way few people could and can defend herself if need be. Why isn't there more - or any - flirtation? I could imagine there's some policy at Fats Wehawkins of not dating in company and I also imagine flirting with Wendy would go strictly against some moral code of boy scout MM's not dating / flirting with his partner & apprentice. Yet not even a little flirtation between two attractive adults always in danger together? Ever? Despite how lonely he is/they are (or at least how sexually frustrated Wendy seems to be)? It really does make me wonder if MM doesn't flirt with her specifically because he knows something about their relationship she doesn't. Something Wendy obviously doesn't know about (as I do pick up a tiny, if grudging, bit of attraction on her part).
