Jun. 29th, 2008 10:48 amSince we had a Key to Time shout-out (Callufrax Minor) in 4x12 and we've had all this wonky "There's something on your back"/"You are something new" business about Donna all season, I predict Donna (+TARDIS+Crucible) is akin to Princess Astra and she's the key in unlocking the Time War. What's on her back is the evidence of her pseudo-Key-to-Time-ness. So Donna is neither a fobwatched Time Lord nor does she have a Metebelis 3 spider backpack, but still with her own Who skiffy bizarreness. Of course, you'd think the Doctor would know what Donna is since he's presumedly the one who locked the Time War (although what was with all that "burned up like the Earth" stuff he's been going on about since S1?? "Burning" = time-locking??), unless she's some special mad genius Davros creation (hence why she started hearing heartbeats/drums when he set his plan into motion) or some suprsekrit Time Lord contingency project the Doctor knew nothing about but tricksy Davros (or Caan) found out about it.
Big Dramatic Denouement is Davros offers the Doctor a share in the Mad Genius Overlord bounty in the form of a restored Gallifrey and the Doctor it's shiny new President. Vowing a ceasefire to the Time War, all if the Doctor willingly sacrifices Donna and the TARDIS ("most faithful companion"), probably those 27 planets as well. Which he ultimately won't do since he's the Doctor, but he will consider it just like he considered Finch's Faustian deal in "School Reunion" (which, like Sarah Jane in SR, the companions must be his voice of reason). When he inevitably refuses, Davros proceeds anyway and Donna becomes lost in the great Time War Unlocking. The Doctor and companions find a way to stop it (but not before a few sneaky bastards get out, Daleks and Time Lords alike). Gallifrey is lost again, as are Davros & the Daleks, and Donna is restored, but the trauma of the event leaves her with amnesia of her time with the Doctor.
I'm going to be totally wrong just like I always amespecially if those other finale rumors have any modicum of truth, but feels nice to get a little spec mojo back. Haven't had it all season.
