Part of me says that no how, no way, could Jason Statham ever be Eleven. Yet another part of me reflects on Nu Who with it's occasional slo-mo walk through flames, wielding of the sonic like it's a 9mm and other such things straight out of the Hollywood action handbook. Maybe it would be natural progression after all? The return of Venusian Aikido with extreme prejudice, perhaps? Daleks? Eleven gonna kick y'all inna face!! Possibly to some techno? (Maybe Statham!Eleven was meant to be? "My name is ______. This is the day that I die." How very "Doomsday" of him!)

Of course, I don't imagine he'd ever do it as the Beeb couldn't afford him and he's too busy starring in loud, 'splody popcorn flicks, but I suppose you never know. Nu Who is a popular int'l property now and what better way to get that elusive Murkan moneys into Who then with Brawler Doctor? [/is sort of irrationally nervous at the prospects]

Car-lyle! Car-lyle! Car-lyle! (And Nighy, but you know, that's just my personal hobbyhorse.)

All new shiny Scots writer, I say we finally get a full-on Scots Doctor too. No more hiding under the mockney.

I think John Simm would initially be hilarious (particularly if they brought the Master back, and they had the "You stole my face?" "Well, you were finished with it!" argument), but I like Carlyle the best out of that list.

Jason Statham would be so wrong that he's actually frighteningly plausible in some ways. Here's hoping for better.

Picture it, Statham + VOTD? It's almost shockingly fitting. Although he might cut out all that floating about with angels and ad libbed with ass kicking. He'd also probably have done the grabbing and kissing of Astrid, not the other way around. Not to mention, Astrid would have been one of the Pussycat Dolls, possibly. Ironic that might have achieved the mind-numbing lolarity betters then VOTD attempted.

not that I know anything, cause really, only recently gotten into Who, but if they want to win the girl crowd, Statham would be a good way to go. :D

then again, Carlyle actually looks more the part to me.

I admit Statham is a nice piece of mancandy and he'd probably be much more convincing in a giant swordfight then Tennant (despite JS's most recent attempt at that sort of thing very firmly in the hideously embarrassing category (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460780/), he did still swirl around the sword mighty fine). Which is a bit of the problem, the Doctor really isn't about the giant, great swordfights all the time. The running, jumping, climbing trees - then beating them senseless - is Statham's thing, but not the Doctor's.

Carlyle is so good. He can bring the funny and the intensity.

I'm irrationally hoping for Bill Nighy as Eleven...

Since we're being open with our irrationality, I'm still hoping for Bowie, despite his aversion to Who. Even in the 70s before the Doctor's penchant for Floating Fairy Jesus he refused to appear. Nighy!Doctor would be amazingly good too though, most definitely.

Yay for being open in our irrationality! :D

Hmm - never considered Bowie before - mind you, I've never seen him act...

*le gasp* You've never seen Labyrinth?? You simply must. It is one of Freema's favorite movies. [/extra stalkery motivation] ;)

Although my fave movie of his is actually The Hunger which.... isn't that good, but I admit I only like it cuz he and Catherine Deneuve are incredibly sexy in it.

Sorry, no - I'm rubbish at making time to watch movies... However, I'll see if the library has it ('cos if Freema loves it... :D )
