You're right. I've read recently that Bush cut 80% of the the funding requests for levee improvement for New Orleans over the past 5 budgets.

But oh no. It's ALL NOLA's fault. They had it coming apparently. Which is pretty much what Tucker seems to imply.

True those levees have needed to be remodelled and strengthened for the past 30 years and more administrations than Dubya's can be cast blame.... but I guess I just think it's rather pointless to bitch about that at this point in time when Tucker himself was standing right in the middle of the disaster that is Biloxi (and the own administration he champions certainly has it's share of blame. It's most certainly not all NOLA's officials' fault). There are greater problems at hand and he's right there in the middle of them.

What chaps me the most is the way Dubya sat back on his "ranch" this weekend and watched as Katrina roared toward New Orleans

Cheney's still on vacation if I'm not mistaken. Guess the disaster wasn't major enough to bring the entire core of our nation's gov't to action? I guess they're waiting for the flying saucers to land in the French Quarter or something?
