Wolverine's Revenge (Gamecube)

retro_eidasI'm sitting here looking for something mind-numbing to do avoiding work (per usual), so I decided to dust off my copy of "Wolverine's Revenge".
GOD.
Worst. Game. Ever.
The programmers were just geniuses not putting save points at regular intervals. It's all trial & error, so when you're playing through a level for 15-20 minutes... then you die... you have to start all over at the *beginning* of the level. Yeah. It'll drive you to drink.
I tried playing through the game once at normal levels, but I finally gave up and put in the cheat codes after like the 20th time I was doing that Alkali Lake level. Bah.
Then you've got Professor X giving you helpful tips at the beginning of each level like, "Logan. There might be people here that want to do you harm. Good luck!" THANKS FOR NOTHING PROFESSOR AND SHUT THE HELL UP BY THE WAY. It's sad since I could listen to Patrick Stewart read from a phone book for hours, but after playing a 20 min. level only to have to start over... and all you get is a "good luck" from the strongest telepath in the world non-using the Cerebro-aneurysm -o-matic? It gets grating. Make some of those torrents of bad guys think they're six year old girls or something Professor (especially in that damn "The Void" level where you're *bombarded* by guards). Come on.
Lazy programmers.
Don't get me started on the A.I. It's amusing watching enemies walk into walls, get knocked down by invisible firewalls or fall down stairs because those handrails are all just holograms I suppose. Heh.
The game might have been a little better if Hugh actually did the voice for Wolvie, but it's Mark "Luke Skywalker" Hammill. He does a decent enough Wolvie, but he ain't Hugh. Whatever reason HJ couldn't do the voice track, he got off lucky. Poor Patrick.
Oh, btw, if that's Anna Paquin's voice doing Rogue (as it is according to Gamespot) I'll eat my X2 DVD. No way that's Anna.
I wouldn't doubt the game was rushed to get it out before "X2" was released in theaters... That did absolutely no favors for the game. They better hope the sequel is better.
I knew I should have grabbed Double Dash instead.
