I recall Jo saying that the trio wouldn't become Animagi so I doubt there'll be in class training. I was always under the impression it was something they didn't usally teach at school, that Sirius, James and Peter went out of their way, and spent a long time learning it in secret, for Remus' benefit. That and it sounded like an adventure.
