New GOF pics - Viktor Krum

TLC just posted some new various pics from HP&GOF 2006 Calendars. One of which is of...


He looks almost like a chunkier Gael Garcia Bernal (but obviously, not as hot), doesn't he?.

He's pretty much what I was expecting him to look like. Perhaps with little less of the stereotypical Eastern Block chiseled jaw, but he has a Bulgarian quality to him nonetheless. Money is on the young actor probably towering over Dan (then again, that wouldn't be so hard. Dan isn't very tall, is he?). It's how he sounds that will probably be most vital ("I vont to know... vot is there between you and Hermy-own-ninny").

Also, that TLC link above includes pics of Harry in a bathrobe holding his Golden Egg (heading for the Prefect's Bathroom... a little pre-emptive squeeage for those on my FL who I know frequent The Bad Place) and conceptual art for the Merfolk, a bit of the Dark Mark and a small pic of one of the Dragons.

So... the movie's look seems ok. For now. I'm still reserved on Newell's take on GOF. In all accounts, quite a big chunk of the book has been cut (it's only logical considering how thick that book is and no indication GOF is any longer than any of the other movies). I'm taking a wait and see approach.

Putting Krum's picture next to one of H/Hr... you can really contrast/compare between them. Picturing what Hr is going to look like going to the Yule Ball with this guy and what he'll look like confronting Harry. If I were Harry, I'd probably be scared.

It also looks like there's a Phoenix on his sweater. If it is, is that some movie-aesthetic thing or if that's direct JKR input (Durmstrang's logo?).

Krum doesn't look too bad at all. Granted, he's much prettier than what I expected him to be from the books. A lot prettier.

Personally I don't find Krum pretty at all. I still love the way this H/Hr image is composed. Subconscious shipping, anyone?? :)

Ditto. Then again, just about any guy would have probably been better than the image I had in my head. My Krum seemed to border somewhere between Bela Lugosi, Rasputin and Dolph Lundgren (Dark/creepy, kind of scraggly and super-mannish jawline).

He's not hot by any stretch of the word, but as I was telling kasey above, since the Krum I envisioned was bordering on Trollish... Stanislav is quite an improvement.
