First of all, I made a new swimmer wp (*snorts* The Olympics have been over how many months now?) and it's still pertaining to the random ('imperceivable') topic in the last post. However, I did feel giddy for this guy since he apparently did really well in the Aussie Trials. Kudos. ;)

Cut to spare the FL. )

X3
What can I say that hasn't already been said by several in the FL? But it looks like there's a new director and he's not Paul Anderson, Tim Story or *insert random cheap talent on Fox payroll here*. That's good... but I never thought the whole Guy Ritchie-esque / Brit-gangster film was really X-Men... but then the same could have been said for Bryan "Usual Suspects" Singer and his X-M were brilliant. Thus, I'm not opposed to the decision. Also, Gambit looks like he's going to be in X3 as well. No objections to this either, as long as they cast someone who can act and has some firey chemistry with Anna (if she returns, hopefully she will). Of course, Gambit should be pretty too, which I suppose isn't totally important... but he *is* Gambit (despite the ghastly perm that would make a Hobbit cry I've seen on him in the comics of late). I made a manip once of Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Gambit, who can act and is mighty pretty (but GOD he seems like an ass. Cops called on him for beating up his 18 yr old girlfriend? Yeah. Real hot).

Although I just read this news tidbit at IGN.... "Cyclops won't have a major part in the story". Uhm... what? They're doing the Dark Phoenix saga, yes? So I take it Scott doesn't care the woman he was planning to spend the rest of his life isn't only not dead, but has turned batshit insane / meglomaniacal murderer? Looks like it will be all Crazy!Jean wants her some Logan? I love Famke and Hugh... but meh.

Spidey 3
For those who don't care much for the MJ / Peter amour in the Spider-Man movies... it looks like there's at least some chance of Black Cat making an appearance in SM3 (and possibly played by a fairly well-known if this Sevigny rumor is true). Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised this is true... if for anything, Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire seemed just slightly frigid towards each other in some of those commentaries and behind-the-scenes stuff on the SM2 DVD (this is why it's not a good idea to date your co-workers). They'll probably bring in Black Cat to up the 14-yr-old boy drooling factor and kick up the MJ/Peter angst (possibly also to write her out of the story if KD isn't around for S4 as I hear she won't be). Although, and not to be bitchy or anything, but Chloe Sevigny doesn't really strike me as a "buxom" Black Cat-ish type. Scarlett Johanssen maybe, but not Sevigny.

And could this mean Charisma Carpenter for 'Wonder Woman'? ;) She certainly has the look down. Although I've been told by my BTVS-obsessed amigos Joss might not be all for that. CC and JW don't really get along as I understand it. Too bad. If not Charisma Joss, please consider Jennifer Connelly. I've had a girlcrush since The Rocketeer and she can act (even if she's already been in The Hulk).

Ok, I know a lot of y'all on my FL probably have your TVs on 8E Wednesday nights (American Idol, Lost and Alias night), so you may already be familiar with this. However, I just caught a few eps (per the insistance of a co-worker) of this new show on Discovery called It Takes A Thief.

Here's the premise of the show. )

I was expecting the show to be cliche and mid-season replacement mediocrity. An hour of gloom & doom, THIS can happen to YOU ::points finger forbodingly:: and dumb people whining & bitching about the faux!thief breaking all their expensive stuff ... but it's actually a pretty good show. It's kind of shocking how negligent some (usually, affluent) people seem to be. A family who leaves their garage door practically wide open and the keys to a BMW *in the car*... unlocked. An irreplaceable Picasso not really hidden in a closet with not so much as a padlock around it and a penchant not to lock the porch doors? :facepalms:

However, what I find most amusing about the show are the hosts. Holy shit. They're TOTALLY HOT. ).

It's almost counterproductive in a way. Am I supposed to want to be robbed? Two abnormally hot, charismatic thieves breaking into your house? That's porn fodder... or a George Clooney movie. Out of Sight is the one good thing J.Lo ever did. The Teutels look way scarier than these guys. Easily. The front page does try to make them look like thugs. But when you start watching the show? The whole dirty, unkempt criminal stereotype drops pretty quickly (even when the guy is burglarizing the house - he still comes off pretty). I suppose that's the point... criminals and burglars can be suave and look like anyone. Guys who you'd chat-up with in a bar and get you to say more than you should about your personal dwelling and assets after a few. Matt is the talker in the show, but Jon is completely sweet and has an adorable New Yawk accent (he sounds like a guido, but not in the indecipherable Gotti-speak way). So... the hosts are the hotness, funny, snarky, very charming and have a comfortable repetoire (they really seem like friends) AND the show is actually informative (although I'd say at least 80% of it is just plain common sense. Lock your doors/windows, make sure the locks work and use the damn deadbolts people!). What's not to like (beyond the whole scary, house burglarizing thing)?

Anyway, if y'all want to kill some time before Lost comes on... Discovery Channel 8pm E.
