ETA. It is interesting Dean accused Cas of being "already dead" in 4x22 too. Angel of the Lord, Cas. That's also likely what inspired Cas to rebel (and not to lose Dean's friendship), prove he wasn't "dead" or knew he was "dead" but the only way to life/vitality is by way of Dean (humanity aka Mama Earth). Kripke isn't this fun, but it would be ironic that maybe Dean's way to life or resurrection (salvation) may be through Castiel.
