This is such an illness. I and a few friends are about to hop in the car and drive 2 hours to see Trek in IMAX. *facepalm*

It's like JJ Abrams took my inner Trekkie denier and killed it 10 ways before it hit the ground. All week I've been binging on TNG (Worf!!), DS9 and "First Contact" waiting for the weekend to come all so I could watch it again.

Seriously though, the movie is becoming like what the LOTR movies were. Like damn events. JJA throws in some of those bizarre made-up languages in the next movie and it will be complete.

You are not alone! Well, not driving two hours for an IMAX since I saw it on practically an IMAX screen last week, but still. Obsessed, and such a Trekkie.

First Contact was a good movie. It has been years since I've seen it!

Am I mixing two up? Which is the one where Data gets the emotion chip and is a complete spaz the whole time? If that's a different one, I love that one, too.

If I could afford it I'd probably be seeing Trek over and over because it was made for the big screen and I want to really savour that while I can. But it hasn't even reached my local cinema yet (I travelled for an hour by bus on opening day just so I didn't have to wait weeks to see it) and I'm not sure when it will be. I'll be seeing it at least once more in the cinema, with my mother who really wants to see it. I'm jittery waiting for the chance.

He did it with blipverts.

No, really, I'm dying to see it in imax. Can I come?

Hop in that transporter and we'll be on our way!

Seriously, probably one of the most fun movie experiences I've had, even if I'm possibly deaf now, but I'm having a hard time complaining.

That's awesome of your mother, wanting to see it. I just got off the phone with my mom who I spent about 45 mins convincing her to go drag dad to see it. She was certain it would be full of Klingon speech and goofy fight scenes and all I could think is has she not seen a single trailer?? She seriously think they'd spend millions of dollars so Kirk would throw foam rocks at guys in rubber suits??

She's never been too deeply into Trek so I don't think she knows a whole lot beyond a couple of the characters names and hazy childhood memories. Which is probably what's working in the movies favour as far as her wanting to see it goes. We have similar-ish taste in things (she watches Lost and Doctor Who/Torchwood and Robin Hood...) so we usually go to most movies together.
