Yet another post about Firefly / Serenity. Shocking! And it's all time-wastey since it's total shippy nonsense.

Is it just me (certainly could be, the pathetically hopeless romantic inside is unyielding) or does this table's symmetry look awfully.... coupley?

Mal/Inara standing at the ends of the table, River/Jayne sitting diagonally from each other at either end, while Seated!Zoe/Standing!Wash and Kaylee/Simon take the lengthwise sides.

Of course, the one big chink in the above randomness is River/Jayne. Not canon. :cough:Yet!:cough: Not that I wholly believe River/Jayne is or ever will really be canonical (for me, the ship is 98% fanon and about 2% canon probability). But ... I guess you just never know with Joss (he aims to misbehave!). I'd suppose the seating arrangements possibly could mean something considering Joss' love of detail and fan shout-outs (consisting of a mass of rabid detail-hunters). It doesn't have to point to romantical anything between River/Jayne either (new big bro after Simon goes off merrily fornicating with Kaylee?).... then again, since I've read more Rayne smut-fic than I care to admit to, my mind seems incapable of leaning towards Jayne-the-big-man-ape-bro image for little Albatross. As I said, however, that's just my utterly, shamelessly biased thing.

Here's a depressing (also shippy) prediction if there is anymore canon to be had... I think we're going to see Mal/Inara die by the end of the series. Probably when Serenity falls. In a blaze of glory, the captain goes down with his ship and his woman (finally) by his side.

Mmm strange. I didn't even notice the arrangement until now. Good catch.

It could be something... or absolutely nothing. With Joss, I suppose we can't be entirely certain. Then again, that could be my wishful thinking too.
