but jeezus, it just keeps getting better and better as time goes on.
It's astounding, isn't it? This season has almost solely restored my faith in television. Although it makes me think nasty half-empty thoughts that the finale can't possibly get anymore entertaining, can it?!
The story, as it was, was a bit...well...meh.
I ... can't really disagree with you there. Like the whole Not!Reavers Futurekind? How shit would they have been in just about any other ep/series?
Here I focused on the dynamic of the five main characters, and the main "story" be damned.
And chemistry was bursting at the seems.
The ship business was just filler (or was it? Is there more to come I wonder?)
To tell you the truth, I don't think it's over yet. Remember Jacobi!Master pulled that disk from the console saying "Utopia" very snidely? If I were going to spec, I'd bet The Master had something to do with sending out that Utopia call for whatever his nefarious purposes and The Professor sent those people right into Saxon's trap (or he sent them into a trap he'd set up himself in the future... err, past.... oh the joys of time travel!).
"What have I done?" The Doctor's face, when he realized/remembered what Boe had said.
It's totally not over yet either. Lots of folks have been speccing the Doctor is going to get a huge karmic bitchslapping c/o the mounting hubris the past two seasons (and, just, you know, the general bastardy attitude he's had. Wasn't he just total. bastard. to both Jack and Martha in this ep?). One thing I brought up above has got to come into play, his deposing of Harriet Jones (and her "Golden Age") which led it open ground for the rise of Saxon. That should garner at least one look of devastated horror. Oh my gods it's going to be good!
I also suspect we'll see a good deal of the now angry/confused/so-sorry Doctor desperately attempting to return to Earth to face his foe.
And the facing of consequences of his actions.
But...but...only two more weeks to go and then...it's OVER?!?!?!!!...
...Well, we have the new season on sci-fi in July
Srsly, about the only thing consoling me of the fact the season (of frighteningly squeeing awesome!!!) is almost over is we get to rewatch it all in July. Although what pisses me off is I don't think I've seen a single Who S3 promo. Not faulting "Eureka" at all as I do like that show and it is Sci-Fi's own product, but... it's starting July 11 and I've seen at least two dozen promos for it the past couple weeks. Who is starting July 6 (if I'm not mistaken)... and nothing. Which is just pure rubbish. They should be promoting like crazy (as it deserves it as it's one of the best seasons yet. Srsly, I think it would kill in the ratings and actually get some new fans if Sci Fi would promote the damn thing).
and then Torchwood in September (but why so bass-ackwards? Shouldn't we have Torchwood first, and then the new series of Doctor Who?
Probably cuz performance-wise, Murkan cable has more vested in Who than it does Torchwood (which... hasn't really done that great overall in the UK and it's kind of been panned by the critics, so doesn't really encourage overseas investors). Who also aims at a wider audience, so it's more profitable that way than the more adult TW.
Then the too long wait until the Christmas episode. Crap....
Jesus. Don't even remind me. What pains me (as teetering on the rabid side of Martha luv as you probably guessed), there's nothing definitive about whether she's going to be in the next season or not. I could deal with it if she left as this is the nature of Who, but... I can't say it wouldn't break my heart a little this is the only season we'd get of her and that chem between David & Freema. I've loved Ten all the more much in part due to the dynamic with Martha. I almost feel like I wasn't truly sold on his Doctor (as a character with some layers) until this season.
