Ay amor fue una tortura perderte....
At the alert of a fangirly gushing e-mail from an amiga, I just checked out Shakira's vid "La tortura", the duet with Alejandro Sanz. Apparently, it premiered last month and only now (while I have no internet at home) I hear about it. Better late than never, I say.

It's subtle like "Justify My Love" is subtle (not surprisingly, a choreographer who most recently worked with Madonna, Jamie King, choreographed the video)... and of that, you'll hear no complaints from me.
I've had a girlcrush on Shakira since "Pies descalzos" and Alejandro Sanz for god knows how long (Honestly, it's "Más" that did me in. Cheesy as the album is, it still never fails to get my ovaries all pitter pat). And they're together and HOT in this vid. Can you say química boys and girls? I think you can! Beyond the visual diversion, I don't know why it's taken this long for these two to duet, their voices mesh so very well together. Even if the song itself sucked (it doesn't), it still probably would have sounded good (or at least oozing teh sex. Those two manage that alone without their combined efforts. It's audio aphrodisia).
May I also just say, hearing Alejandro's voice in Target commercials and now watching a vid with him in it on MTV (that isn't MTV Latin America)... it just makes me all squishy. I don't think he'll cross over to English composing anytime, but if folks can embrace him singing good old español and my friends start really understanding this Alejandro Sanz fetish of mine? Warm and fuzzies, all over.
btw, I believe MTV & VH1 (US) are playing censored versions of the vid. Stinkin' FCC.
