I'm wandering around KFCC at the moment and stumbled on all these nifty tidbits. I fully admit, not that it's probably all that shocking with my various movie spam entries ... I have a weakness for movies that blow things up, yet have plentiful pretty. Asian cinema has been pushing these factors of late.
CASSHERN. A living Gundam Wing (not that I'm a Gundam fan or anything, but still) ... unfortunately, the reaction to the story is sort of meh. But. Since I'm susceptible when it comes to Asian TehKeWl... and Yusuke Iseya looks like a Japanese Adrien Brody (although you can't really see it in the below, perhaps here). I'm seeing this. It's coming out on DVD in Japan Oct. 25.
I have The Returner on DVD (Mmmmm Takeshi), I'll watch this for Iseya.
In French cinema miscellany and it's Halloween-ish ... Christopher Gans ("Brotherhood of the Wolf") is currently at the helm of the SILENT HILL big screen adaptation (here's a bit of backstory for those unfamiliar with the game). If he does it right, that's several dozen piss-your-pants moments waiting to happen. Of course, with the propensity of video-games >> film... the movie will probably suck something fierce. Although I did sort of like "Brotherhood of the Wolf"... but then Monica Belucci (aka, one of my favorite girl-crushes) is in that. The movie has the makings of a good movie adaptation. There is some depth & mystery there beyond just blasting zombie heads, bouncing on koopas or whatnot. Will they do anything with it? Eh. I suppose we'll see. Just as long as Gans doesn't try to make it "Resident Evil", I'll probably see it.
