IZO trailer at AICN

I think I've gotten to the point of being beyond desensitized to plentiful movie violence. I don't even react anymore. Bodies sliced in half? Severed heads? Meh. Seen it! But since Beat Takeshi (aka, Zatoichi) is in this, I might give it a shot. Some of the action sequences look intriguing. Since I survived "Ichi the Killer", "Azumi", "Battle Royale" and "Audition", I doubt this one will effect me. IZO trailer at AICN or just jump straight to the Japanese IZO site (scroll down to the grey bars). And yes, the trailer is only available in Japanese. No subtitles.

In other news, I'm usually a huge fangirly nerd when it comes to Japanese horror anything, but I can't recommend Uzumaki, which I watched over the weekend. I don't know how or why it got a 5 at Kung Fu Cult Cinema. The movie was just bizarre... and not in a particularly entertaining or scary way. Sort of like FLCL meets Battle Royale meets Ju-On, but, like I said, somehow just *not* entertaining. Not to mention, the male lead was weirdly asexual and lankey. The movie was rather avant-garde compared to other Japanese horror movies. Maybe I need to watch it again to appreciate the ingenuity of the actual film-making, but my first viewing? Eh. A slow deterioration of an insane mind (and town), but it's a little too slow and not quite enough story behind it IMO.
